What I want to be when I grow up!

Today is Grandparent's Day at NCS. For K, all of our students dressed up as "What I want to be when I grow up." It is adorable!!!! I have a mini police man, football player, chef, secret agent, soldier, veterinarians, fashion designer, artist, race car driver, ballet teacher, business woman (who wants to own a Chili's, flower shop, and candy store) and a hairdresser complete with fake pink eyelashes and platform shoes. It is so sweet to see what these 5 and 6 year olds have dreams of becoming. I wonder how many of them will actually become the profession they are dreaming of today. What happens to our dreams and goals from childhood to adult hood? I love teaching K because these kids have the biggest imaginations and to them nothing is impossible.

It has also hit me that one day these children will be the ones who are running our society and taking care of all of us. I have them for this short school year period. I have to ask myself what I am doing that is impacting them and preparing them for the future. Of course I want them all to have great jobs, but most of all, I want to instill the love of Christ in them. I want them to have a personal relationship with Christ and serve others in love. So today as I look out into my classroom not only do I see future professionals, but I pray and hope that I see future warriors for Christ. Time flies and one day this K year will be just a faded memory, hopefully one that I can look back on and say "God used me for that short time to work in those children's lives for His glory."
