October update

I have been keeping super busy lately. I am sewing like crazy...ok well maybe not crazy but whenever I can squeeze it in. My goal was to get into the Farmer's Market this month, however they are booked for the date I wanted. So, I figured I will simply keep making inventory until I do get in. It's been fun with little pressure. You can check out any of the new aprons on facebook (Apple Pie Aprons).

Dixie is drooling and eating her hand constantly...I am thinking she is beginning to teethe...oh boy. She finally has a double chin and 1 roll on her legs. Although, compared to most babies her age..she is teeniny....I'm trying to fatten her up. I am thinking she is going to be a daddy's girl and she definitely is a TV fanatic...Not good! If one is on in the room she will break her neck to see it. Dixie is going to be a bumblebee for Halloween thanks to DD. We had professional pictures taken in the outfit and it is the most adorable thing I have ever seen. I am looking forward to her wearing it all night:) She has also been enjoying club cousins once a week where all of the cousins get together, have lunch and play.

Evan is still busy with lawn care and is praying for the rain to stop and cooler air to come in...my poor hubby is dying in that heat! He is loving Dixie Jean to pieces and is thrilled that she is the spitting image of him.

That's about it for now.

Daddy Boot Camp

Evan took Dixie with him to Daddy Boot camp this morning. Since he is now a "veteran" dad he was going to talk with and answer questions for expectant dads. It was so cute watching him walk into the hospital as proud papa with his Dixie Jean in tote. He requested that I put a flower on her head. I dressed her in her I love Daddy shirt and blue jean skirt. He is such an amazing father and I am so glad that Dixie is going to have such a positive role model in her life in her father. So mommy is at the coffee shop with 4 hours of "free time!" I am loving this but I miss my 2 favorite people already. Hopefully Dixie and Evan are showing these new daddies the ropes and maybe they'll even be so lucky as for her to fill up her diaper and let them change her :)

Quick update

I'm finally at the coffe shop and able to do a quick update....yea!!! Dixie is getting big (10 weeks today)..she is 9 lbs 2 oz now. That is probably because I have been giving her formula to supplement her after every feeding..I never would have thought that I would have problems breastfeeding, but here we are. She is smiling all the time now and getting such a personality. She loves watching sports with daddy (really she is just amused by tv..GREAT!) She likes family reading time and her new rainforest music thingy in her crib. Evan has been working hard, but as fall approaches business will unfortunately slow down (good for family time..not so good for the bank account). I am sewing a lot (By the way Apple Pie Aprons has moved to facebook) and absolutely loving being a mommy and housewife. I am a lucky girl! Here are some recent pictures:

Almost 1 month

I hate that I never get a chance to blog anymore. It makes me sad, but that's life. Dixie Jean is doing great and I can't believe she will be a month next week. I am loving being a
mommy and Evan is a GREAT daddy as I knew he would be. He calls her "sweetheart" all the time. It was definately an adjustment at first and some days still are, but it is AWESOME! I really can't picture our life without our sweet caterpillar. Yes, that is the nickname I have given her. Evan calls her capitellar...and sometimes I steal it. Don't ask why we call her that..it just came out and stuck.
We are slowly trying to take her out in public and get a bit of normalcy back. We walk her on the lakefront, she will go to Target for the 1st time today and we are excited to take her to church this week. She is getting big already and as much as I am ready for her to do things like sleep through the night.....I love snuggling her and don't ever want her to grow up.

Frilly Millie Apron

Check out Apple Pie for my most recent apron!

Child of the 80's

I had to show off my most recent sewing project. I would love to start selling these through Apple Pie, but these are for me to keep as it was experimental to start. I had a couple of vintage t-shirts that I have grown out of but did not want to get rid of. I decided to start making pillowcase dresses from vintage T's. If anyone has any they don't want anymore...forget Goodwill..send them my way. Look how cute these turned out:

Hello due date.....but not hello baby!

So here we are....the due date is here...AND NO BABY!!!!!!!!!! Went to the doc today and I am not dilated or thinned out at all. So it looks like I will be induced Monday morning if labor does not happen on its own.  Praying for my body to kick into gear and this baby to get into position to get ready. I have mentally prepared myself for a section, as it seems it might result in that, but we will wait and see. We are so anxious!!!! Come on little McGinty!!!!

Party Like a Rock Star

Last night we celebrated our dear friend Krista's birthday with a Guitar Hero party. Everyone came dressed like a rockstar. I love themed parties, especially when they involve costumes. When else can you wear red streaks in your hair, black nail polish and bright red lipstick (ok so I guess anytime....but I wouldn't). Evan looked awesome as he sported a lip and nose ring, black eyeliner and the nail polish as well. He played the part a little too well. We had fun! Here are a couple of pictures. If you want to see them all check out my facebook page. Rock on!

Girl Dreams and Cotton Candy toes

Had a wonderful baby dream last night. It was a girl! That is the 2nd girl dream I have had in the past few weeks. It was wonderful....made me so anxious for the baby to get here. Looking at the votes to the left..not many of you think it is a girl :) That's ok...I don't either really, but the dream was GREAT!

I have a doctor's appointment today, although I am sure not that much has changed. I am actually feeling less pressure than I was a few weeks ago. Only 17 days left and I have a feeling I will make it there. Overall I am feeling great. I get really worn out really fast, and can't get comfortable when I sleep, but other than that, I'm good.

I think we have everything as ready as we can get it before the baby gets here. It is killing me that I can't decorate the "nook" until we know the sex. I went ahead and bought some stuff for a boy and some stuff for a girl. At least it will be ready to go when they arrive. It gave me some sense of peace. I will just return what I don't use.

Last night Evan painted my toenails like a good husband, since I can't reach or see my feet:) I have to have them ready for labor right? We did pink and blue (every other toe) as we do not want to be partial to one or the other. It is a little tacky, but fun! However, it makes me want cotton candy. I asked Evan if it did that for him and he looked at me like I was crazy. It must be a pregnant thing.

Well, that's all for now. If there is a doctor update, I'll post again soon.

9 month Belly picture

I obviously missed the 8 month belly pic, but here is the 9 month pic. The stretch marks have gotten too numerous to do a bare belly, however this shirt shows it pretty accurate to size. It always hits me how big it is once I see it from a different perspective, like in a picture. Just don't know how much bigger this belly can get.

3 weeks to go!!!!

I know that I promised an 8 month belly pic, but it looks like I missed a whole month...sorry. I can assure you it is bigger. So, here we are in the 9th month already.....CRAZY! I can't believe my baby will be here this month....hopefully not later. I am so excited to be "officially" finished with school and packing up my classroom so that I can now concentrate on getting ready for the baby and resting. I was walking around wal-mart this morning at a very slow pace and finding myself completely out of breath and sweating (oh great..how am I going to survive labor?)

I have a doctor's appointment today and I think they do an ultrasound to measure bones and give an estimate of how big the baby is...but I know they are rarely right on. I just hope they don't give me a "big size" estimate or anxiety will start taking over me. Evan has to work and he gave me a stern warning that if I don't speak up and remind them that we do not want to know the sex of the baby..he will kill me. You see, last doctors visit, when we found out the baby was head down, the doc was about to put the ultrasound globe on my belly when Evan spoke up and reminded him we didn't want to know. The doctor said "Oh I am glad you said something, because I probably would have slipped up." Evan glared at me because he knew I wasn't saying anything. The truth is, as much as I want to know, I have waited this long and finding out now would make me upset. We only have 3 weeks left, I can hold out.

Evan has been amazing at organizing everything and getting stuff ready. I have yet to hit the "nesting" phase, so I mainly just watch as he organizes (it's a God given talent..that I did not get). We are both getting so pumped. We have most of our hospital bag packed and ready to go. It's still so surreal....but as I am being kicked in the rib cage right now by this little cutie, I am reminded this is real!

Designer Onesies

Had to show off everyone's creative juices from the shower my church threw me and Olivia (she is due 11 days before me). We all had to design onesies. So cute!

Update

I only have 5 weeks left!!!! Yikes so soon, but so far away. My next appointment is on Friday and he will start checking to see if baby is head down. I sure feel like baby is, because I feel so much more pressure these days, especially on my bladder :) I only have 6 actual school days left. I will miss teaching and my kids, but it will be nice to be able to rest a little before bambino gets here. I have to start packing up my classroom these next few days.

Evan and I are slowly working on finding a place for everything and washing baby clothes, burp cloths, blankets and such. We got our glider in, but part of it was broken, so we have another one on the way. We also just finished our prenatal classes, which were so helpful. I feel like we are both better prepared and more comfortable with everything that will happen. Evan is going to make a great coach for me and an even better Daddy. He took Daddy Boot Camp in addition to the classes we have done together. I really am so blessed to have such an amazing husband who desires to be such an amazing father. I can't wait to watch him with the baby!

I have not posted an 8 month belly pic yet...sorry, I will work on that. It is much larger!

Baby Shower Cuteness

Had to show off this cute Baby Shower cake from one of my showers this past weekend and some cute stuff I got:

This is the goodnight TEXAS book! Evan loved this!
You can't help but love the Ducky head towel!

Mother's Day Garden Lunch

I had a wonderful first Mother's Day. I decided to invite all of the mom's in our family over and have a "Garden Lunch." Now we don't have a garden and it was 90 degrees outside but it was actually very nice as we have lots of trees to shade and Evan brought out a big fan. Evan and I had prepared all the food: chicken salad on croissants, fresh fruit, homemade sweet potato fries and lemon cake with cream cheese icing...YUMMY!!! Everyone had a great time. I am sure this will be the last event that I will be hosting for a while, so I am glad it went well.

My wonderful husband did these flowers an hour before the party began...He's so good! The arbor are made fro a pretty view.

National Day of Prayer

Today is National Day of Prayer...what an honor and privilege that we live in a nation where there is a day to celebrate such an awesome gift. To know that our Savior wants a relationship with us and has instilled the Holy Spirit in those who have called upon Him to be able to have such an intimate relationship, that when we pray and seek after Him, he stops and listens. He cares about every little detail.

This morning our school had a prayer walk. It contained 10 different stations where a high school student led my class in prayer about different issues such as our country, our school, parents, finances, missionaries, etc. It was a very special time, despite having to fuss my kids to stop kicking dirt and picking up rocks. We are working on the concept of reverence!

This afternoon we will join together for an assembly and a balloon release that contains prayers of students, teachers and administration.....not sure how legal or good for the environment that is, but it will be a sign of releasing our prayers to God.

How amazing is it that as Christians, we do not have to only have 1 specific day set aside for prayer, but that our Heavenly Father listens anytime and anywhere we are. What an amazing and gracious God we serve! Today take time to reflect on how important prayer is and be thankful that God desires to hear His children.

Pajama Baby Shower

My mom, family and some friends threw me a pajama baby shower on Sunday. It was so much fun and everything looked adorable. We were all super comfy because we were all in pj's. There were lots of bedtime stories stationed all around the house with stuffed animals to go along with the theme and 2 of my favorite childhood books that I have been dying to find (thank you Jaimie!)

The colors were orange, blue, lime green and yellow...bright and fun! The cake table was decorated to look like a bed...pillow and all. They did such a great job throwing this together and I really relaxed and enjoyed it. Here are some pictures courtesy of my friend Blair. When I get the rest from my aunt, I will post the group picture of everyone...it's so cute. I got showered with lots of great gifts for the baby. Now we are trying to figure out where to put everything. Thanks to everyone who helped make this day special for me.

Here I am with mom, Audrey and Jaimie.

Some of the flower centerpieces

How adorable is this cake????? SO yummy too! It is from Zoe's bakery.

My spot was made to look like a bed and decorated with all Dr. Seuss themed stuff. Obviously I made myself comfortable!

These adorable onesie cookies were handmade by my dear friend Blair. They tasted as good as they look.

We played 2 very fun games. This one everyone got to pick between chocolate, strawberry or white milk and the person who drank it out of the bottle the fastest won. It's hard work!!!! Everyone's jaws were killing them by the time it was over. Here is Lauren chugging!

My oh so creative friend Blair also made the adorable favors. They are chocolate suckers and each one has a Baby McGinty tag on it. She is so good!

Here is the cousin clan....getting larger. A short time ago, it was just us girls....now look at all these babies.
These are some of my dear friends from school. They are so sweet!
