Family Festivities

On Wednesday night, my sister -in law, brother-in-law and niece and nephew came to visit us through Sunday. It was lots of fun and so good to get to hang out with them since they live in Texas. We all crammed into our 1 bedroom apartment with 2 air matresses (1 of which deflated mid night on poor Jamie). We celebrated Evan's 25th Birthday, went to the Madisonville Boat Fest and just had some good family time. Here are some pictures from the weekend:

Katy Bug has the most gorgeous eyes!!!

Tyler is getting so big!
Bug was teething all weekend and found comfort in this!

Evan's Birthday Dinner: White Chicken Chili...so Yummy!

Evan said he wanted to be surprised with a really cool birthday cake this year. I decided to make him a guitar cake. It was a lot of fun and now I can't wait to have kiddos to make cakes for. I think it turned out pretty good, and he was shocked and pleasantly surprised!

I also got him a guitar strap for his guitar. He's been wanting one for a while. Needless to say, he's excited. It went along with the theme.

Tyler was so excited about his boat!

Blake and Tyler....Tyler was so tired at this point!

My favorite picture!!! Katy Big with my ragdoll wig. She looks like a cabbage patch kid! Love it!

Weekend FUN!

What a fun filled weekend Evan and I had. It was busy busy but great. Here are some photos of all of the fun filled events we did.

Friday night I used my sewing machine for the first time. IT IS AWESOME. The computer programming makes it so easy!!!

Saturday morning we woke up at 5:30 to go fishing. This would be the first time to take the boat out and for me to fish and use my new fishing pole. However, the boat would not start. We decided to go to the pier and fish anyway. It was relaxing and I was excited to catch the first fish. Yes, it is small, but it's my first fish ever! I was also sad that it did not hook in his mouth, but in his gill and eye.....poor fishy. Evan caught one after me and a baby crab. It was a lot of fun...but I would not touch those yucky worms.

On Saturday my school had a Fall Festival. Ryn and Shannon came. The guys got bored real easily, but it was fun to see my kids enjoying the games.

On Sunday our friends Larry and Sharman took us to the Saints vs Raiders game. We always have a blast with them when we go! It was a great game and the Saints rocked the house and won!!!! Sad to say, I did not get nachos though...they downgraded the nachos and you all know that is one of my favorites! Hopefully NACHO BOYCOTT o8' will make them realize we want good nachos ;) Seriously there were signs and stickers that said Nacho Boycott and Hell no-We won't Na-cho!

I cut myself out of one of the pictures, therefore there is a small one of Evan and Larry and Sharman. It was one of those pictures that make you go..."I think I will starve myself...FOREVER!" Didn't think you guys would want to see my 10 chins. Maybe it's a good thing I didn't get the nachos;)

Then on Sunday night we celebrated Jena's 20th Birthday. I cannot believe she is 20!!!!!

Audrey is serious about her teething! Like a dog after a bone.

Barb flung ice-cream at mom and they got a good laugh out of it!

Season 5 of One Tree Hill!!!I can't wait!!!! Brooke already wants to watch it.

Sewing Circle

My Aunt called me the other night and asked if I would be interested in a Family Sewing circle. She was reading an omish book and it talked about how women in the family would meet together and sew and the kids would be there also with someone taking care of them. Well I got excited...a chance to hang out with my family and sew on my new machine....and free dinner...sign me up.

Our "sewing" or craft circle started last night at my Maw's house. We had some delicious lasagna and ceaser salad and headed upstairs to sew...babies and all. My Maw's workout room doubles as her sewing room. 8 adults and 3 babies. I attempted to start cutting out my rag doll pattern but trying to lay material and a pattern down and pin it with babies crawling everywhere and everyone being smooshed...was not happening. I think I got 4 pieces cut out total. With a huge knot in my lowerback and baby screams (from very tired babies) I gave up.

I am glad that we did it though. It was fun having everyone together. I miss all my girls! It's amazing how hectic life gets and you forget about what's important, like spending time with those you love. We will do it again next month, hopefully a little more successful with the sewing. Here are some pics from last night. As you can see..there is not much "sewing" taking place.
My mom is going to be Wonder Woman for her office party and needed some adjustments to her costume. She looks more like my mom now with that black wig!

Soryn trying on Nanny's wig.....we said she looke like Miss Piggy with all that hair.

Marc Broussard Concert

We went to see Marc Broussard at the Varsity Friday night. It was a great show! If you have not heard his music...check it out. He is a little Soul/rock/Blues....in short "goodness." He just put out a new album. Bonus to the night, my good friend Blair and her husband Brad came to meet us for dinner at JT Alexanders (awesome..try the not so ordinary Mac-n-cheese).

Me and Blair (Bear)

Poor Evan got sick during the concert. He stuffed himself with too much JT Alexanders.

Marc breaking it down on the washboard. Very cool!

What I want to be when I grow up!

Today is Grandparent's Day at NCS. For K, all of our students dressed up as "What I want to be when I grow up." It is adorable!!!! I have a mini police man, football player, chef, secret agent, soldier, veterinarians, fashion designer, artist, race car driver, ballet teacher, business woman (who wants to own a Chili's, flower shop, and candy store) and a hairdresser complete with fake pink eyelashes and platform shoes. It is so sweet to see what these 5 and 6 year olds have dreams of becoming. I wonder how many of them will actually become the profession they are dreaming of today. What happens to our dreams and goals from childhood to adult hood? I love teaching K because these kids have the biggest imaginations and to them nothing is impossible.

It has also hit me that one day these children will be the ones who are running our society and taking care of all of us. I have them for this short school year period. I have to ask myself what I am doing that is impacting them and preparing them for the future. Of course I want them all to have great jobs, but most of all, I want to instill the love of Christ in them. I want them to have a personal relationship with Christ and serve others in love. So today as I look out into my classroom not only do I see future professionals, but I pray and hope that I see future warriors for Christ. Time flies and one day this K year will be just a faded memory, hopefully one that I can look back on and say "God used me for that short time to work in those children's lives for His glory."
