Banging Bangs??

So after 6 months of contemplating cutting bangs, I finally went for it. I had so much anxiety over this. I have not had bangs since I was 10 and they were ugly. But then I realized that it is just hair..it will grow back and change is good and fun. I've been sporting the same hair for a while now. Now that they are cut, I love them. I feel funky fresh. So what do you think? Are my bangs banging? I've posted my before and after. I think I vote for the latter. The fun thing is that I can wear them kind of swooped to the side or straight down. I am just afraid of what my husband is going to say...he is not an advocate of haircuts.

New Campers!

Today Camp Dangie had 2 new campers. My friend Trish brought over her niece and son to do our craft for the day. It was nice because it gave Daniel some friends to hang out with. Of course once crafts were over they were on the playstation. But I was glad to see they were forming relationships and having fun. Since we are starting cooking lessons on Thursday, they made their own apron and a recipe book which we will add to every week. Looks like Camp Dangie is catching on..hehe! Maybe I will start an official camp next year and make some money over the summer.

Southern Hospitality

On Thursday, Evan's best friend Thomas and his girlfriend Lauren Rose came in town. We took them out to New Orleans because they had never been before. We had lots of fun, especially singing at the top of our lungs int he piano bar at Pat O's (as you can see...Evan is playing piano in the background). I always love having company in but I have come to realize that hospitality can get expensive! If anyone knows some cheap or money saving tricks...let me know. I love to entertain guests so if you ever want to come and visit...just let us know. Can't promise it will be amazing because the checkbook is dwindling.....but we can guarantee good quality time. Thanks for coming Thomas and Lauren Rose! We had fun with you guys.

My sweet strawberry-blonde

I met you again last night
While off in Dream Land
I held you with all my might
and kissed your little hands

You're strawberry-blonde hair shone in the sun, And I remembered what you always said:
"My hair is strawberry-blonde, but I'm allergic to strawberries" as you pointed to your head
Your creamy cheeks had started to thin
As a sign that you're getting older
I can't believe I have not held you since the weather was much colder

I always like our meetings there
We talk of how much we miss
Like hanging out, being silly, and just being little brother and big sis

When I awake you are gone
And I'm alone in my bed
With memories all flooding in
And things I wished I'd said

My biggest fear is that you're starting to lose my memory
And forget the times we've shared
And you won't realize just how much for you I care.

I know that God can answer prayers
So I pray this all the time:

God let him feel my love and know
That he is on my mind

Keep him safe and hold him with arms around him tight
Thank you for the times I get to see him when I'm sleeping in the night.

YOU know the pain I'm feeling
And every tear that falls
Please bring him back to me
And break down all these walls.

SingStar

We got the game Singstar the other day and it is lots of fun, especially when you have a group and can play teams. We bought the 80's and 90's version. I recorded some of Evan and Brian's wonderful singing skills of Caribbean Queen. He's going to kill me for posting this...but I had to share.

Just 4 words

Today Camp Dangie went to the Audobon Zoo. It was a great day. Daniel and I had lots of fun despite the heat and the fact that my feet were killing me. It was our 1st official field trip! Seeing the monkeys is usually the highlight of my trip oh and the Roman Candy. However, that was not the case today. The highlight of my trip happened before we even got to the zoo. Now, my brother and I have a really good relationship, especially since he is over here almost everyday. But, he is turning into a young man and is hitting those teen years. You remember what it was like..we all wanted to be "cool," which I am sure he does. But there is something about my little or not so little brother that I adore. It is his heart.

On the way to the zoo we were both pretty quiet, just listening to some worship music and trying to get used to being out at 9 in the morning. We were silent for about 15 minutes and out of nowhere Daniel says: "I love you Angie." Wow! Now that may not seem like much, but for a boy who is about to be 13 to just come out for no reason and lay that out there I think is pretty cool. It was also in the way that he said it. I could tell it was so heartfelt and he didn't say it in his usual goofy way. I had to open my eyes really wide and swallow hard as to hold back the tears. I managed to get out an "I love you too Daniel."Nothing else was said for a while. I just lived in that brief moment for a good 10 minutes.

I know that he doesn't realize what that meant to me...but it meant the world. I know that he loves me...but to hear it so pure and heartfelt just hits you in the chest...in a good way. My prayer is that this summer will really be a time that we can get close and I can pour into his life. I pray that I will be a Godly role model for him and that he will yearn to know God because of the ways that God uses me. I pray that my interactions with him bring him closer to the Savior. If it comes to mind, I would appreciate you lifting him up in prayer also. It would mean so much to me and even though he doesn't realize it, it would mean the world to him also.

So even though I saw the monkeys today and they made me laugh as they always do, they didn't even come close to the joy that I felt from 4 simple words from the mouth of my "little" brother.

Camp Dangie: Day 1

Well today Camp Dangie officially started. Being the dork that I am, I decided to go ahead and make the t-shirts as a joke. They turned out kind of cute and when I walked out with mine on and showed Daniel his, he actually liked it. Next thing I knew, he was changing into the Camp Dangie t-shirt.

So off we went to the Trace for a bike ride and a picnic at the park. We rode a pretty good ways taking in the beautiful sounds of nature and my new bell on my bike. It makes the cutest little "Bring." I love my cruiser and even though I look like the wicked witch of the west riding with my basket...I don't care! Daniel kept telling me "thank you" for taking him and that he was having fun. It's the little things like that, that make me realize this is all worth it.

We got to the park and started to eat lunch and Evan walked into the park. What a great surprise! We all had lunch together and tried to cool down a little from the 90 degree weather.
Then all of sudden I realized the D on Dangie was coming off of Daniel's shirt. Now what kind of cheap person would make such a chinky shirt? Oh yea...that was me and my super "iron on" skills. I am going to try to fix it tonight, but if it doesn't work..we can always look back on our 1 special day when all 2 of us wore our Camp Dangie t-shirts as onlookers thought to themselves "Where is Camp Dangie?"
