10 year high school reunion

This past Saturday I had my 10 year high school reunion. That sounds insane and makes me feel so old! Boy how the time flies! I was a little nervous seeing as how I had not seen most of those people in 10 years and I had this fear of not remembering people (I have a terrible memory). Evan was def dreading it...he thought it was insane how much we had to pay (it was) and being shy, he was not looking forward to mingling with all these new people.

I have to say that both Evan and I ended up having a really good time. The girls who organized the event did a great job. It was fun dancing to tunes that I danced to at my high school dances and just giggling with old friends.

It was really weird telling people that I am now a mom of 2 (one on the way). I feel like I just graduated yesterday and yet I am so different from that young naive girl I was then (PRAISE GOD!) I remember talking about what my 10 year reunion would be like and how far off it seemed...now it's over and I look forward to 15 or 20. Kind of scary to even type that.

Here are a few pics from the night:

Jamie, Lyndsey (don't ask about the name tags), Me
Lynds and I with everyone's favorite teacher Mr. Bernard
My sweet La came in from Kansas ( I miss her!)
I am the luckiest woman alive to have this stud for a husband:)

Dixie's Wall

Dixie's wall is finally done. My mom had to come touch up the edges last night before we put the flowers on, but it is finished and I love it! Thanks Mamma!

What a weekend!

What an eventful weekend it has been...3 birthday parties. I have overloaded on cake and ice-cream to the point of no return. I feel disgusting!!!! But it was a fun filled weekend with my family.

Today we went to the Children's Museum. It was Dixie Jean's first time. We were thrilled when we walked in and they said it was "free." Every 3rd Sunday of the month Target sponsors a free day at the museum. (Go Target!)

There were so many kids and so much going on that Dixie was very excited and despite being tired did great. By the time we had to leave we realized we hadn't even visited the "baby" area. She's used to being around the big kids I guess:) Here are a few pics:

Also a very Happy Birthday to my niece Soryn and little brother Dayne:)

Nausea Nausea...go away:(

Here I am week 7 of pregnancy. I must say that I feared week 7 because that was when the sickness hit me hard with Dixie. From week 7 to 17 it was constant vomiting. Great for losing weight (yes..I needed to lose some)...not so great for being excited about pregnancy.

I am def feeling the nausea most of the day and have to talk myself out of running to the bathroom but so far no upchucking (that sounds so gross). Sometimes I would rather just get it over with and feel better. I have to eat like every 30 minutes or I am nauseous. If I eat I am nauseous...it's a no win situation.

Still have a ways to go but looking forward to the end result when I get to hold that precious baby in my arms and forget all about this not so fun time. Oh the joys of pregnancy:)

I want a Swagger Wagon

Maybe I am weird, but since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to be a soccer mom and drive a mini-van...yes, a mini-van. Some people dream of sports cars or huge trucks....I just want lots of space, that sliding door, the floor space that collects half eaten cheerios and smelly sneakers and the entire look that says "I'm a mom and I LOVE it."

So far my dream has not come true. Apparently I have to rack up a few more kids before I can justify getting one. By the way we are working on that. We are pregnant with #2 and due Dec 29th!!!! Woot! Woot! We are very excited!

Anyway, since I have seen this mini-van: the Toyota Sienna, I knew it was the mini-van I have dreamt of. Then I saw this video on You Tube and it confirmed it:) I want a Swagger wagon. I think Evan and I are total Swagger wagon types (well at least I am). All you mini-van moms out there will appreciate this.

Mother's Day 2010

What a great and laid back Mother's Day! Evan went camping last night..actually rode his bike there and camped for the night. I was a little bummed that he would not be here in the morning to take care of Dixie so I could sleep in a little. But he is awesome and rode his bike back at 5 am. I woke up checked the monitor and saw Dixie was not in her crib. He had gotten home in time to take care of her:)

When I finally did get out of bed Evan made me the yummiest 4 egg omelet (stuffed with cheese, onion, and bell peppers) and topped with sour cream and salsa. It was huge and it was DELICIOUS!!!! I also had the sweetest card from Evan and Dixie.

We went to church and then headed to the park to meet the rest of the family for a picnic. I got a most delicious Italian salad ( I could eat olives all day:) We had such a relaxing time, with the exception of Dixie eating a leaf, gagging on a leaf and later throwing up in my hand (Happy Mother's Day Mom!) It was a beautiful day and very relaxing.

We came back home to visit with my mom and chow down on brownie alamode....hmmm...is there a theme here....FOOD!!!! She got me a beautiful bouquet of flowers:) I love fresh flowers.

Overall I really enjoyed my first official Mother's Day. It is such a blessing and honor to be trusted by God with HIS child:)

Best Buds

Since Lyndsey and I are best friends we say that Dixie and Blair are best friends, even though they don't know it yet. Look how cute they are. It's destiny!

I'm a rule breaker!

Awakened by my daughter's cry at 4:15 this morning....blah...too early! I knew we should have found that darn paci before we put her to bed! Check the video monitor....she is chowing down on her lovey (the little blanket with the lamb head that she sleeps with). Yep.....she just wants her paci. Maybe she'll fall back asleep if I let her cry it out. 4:45..still fussing. I drag myself out of bed and into the kitchen to make a bottle and grab the newborn paci thinking anything will help. Evan greets me with a "Good morning love!" (he's up at 4:30 every morning). I'm not happy, so no good morning from me (as if it's his fault...sorry babe).

I have only put Dixie Jean in the bed with us once when she was a few weeks old and then quickly decided that was not going to happen after reading it is the number one cause of infant death due to suffocation. However, this a.m. I am thinking we're gonna try it. She is much bigger now and mommy is sleepy. I pick her up and she immediately calms down. Walk her into my room into the pitch black and she freaks out again...at least until the bottle goes in her mouth. Once she's done gulping I lay her next to me and snuggle her tight. There are a few whimpers but she is starting to feel secure I can tell. Although I am not pleased with my interrupted sleep, I love snuggling her close:) She gets very very still....is she awake????

Of course by this point you don't want to risk moving a single inch on the chance of waking her if she is sleeping. My nose is stuffy and my arm hurts...but I am not budging. There is no way I can fall asleep like this (30 min pass). Was this even worth it? Next thing I know it is 6:15 ( I do fall asleep for a little while) and daddy has come in to brush his teeth and say goodbye. Great....she wakes up. Although I can't say I am totally disappointed...my arm is completely numb now and she has somehow pushed me to the edge of the bed. One roll and I'm a goner.

She does her little ducky face and stretches her arms up in the air. She looks at her daddy with her sleepy little eyes and then at me. She realizes where she is and gets a huge grin on her face. She kicks her legs in excitement at seeing her daddy when she wakes up (he's usually gone already). Suddenly my day is made and the loss of sleep, sore back and numb arm don't seem to matter. I could snuggle this precious angel all day. What a blessing she is! Evan said I broke the rules by putting her in the bed...and I know I did. However, I think the rules need to be broken every once in a while. She won't be this little forever:(

Mini daddy

She looks just like her daddy and now she even plays guitar like her daddy. She learns fast:)

Big Girl Meal

Dixie has been pushing away the baby food lately. Go figure after we just spent a fortune stocking up for the next month. She gets real food here and there to munch on but she only has 2 bottom teeth so we have been taking it slow. Tonight she had her first full real meal. It was also her first time to eat off of a fork. She does not take after her mamma....she inhaled the veggies and only took a few bites of pasta. Can't complain about that:)

Queso and Cuties

Tonight I got to have dinner with my best friend Lyndsey. Everytime we go to dinner it is always the same delicious Mexican place and the same order: Cobb salad with grilled chicken, ranch dressing, and a queso for our chips and salsa. I know what you're thinking..."You are at a delicious mexican place and you order a cobb salad????" Sounds crazy I know, but if you had it there would be no turning back:) I could drink the homemade ranch dressing. Anyway, it has been tradition for a few years and we always look forward to our "girl dinner."

Tonight (aka 5 p.m. dinner....hey maybe we were dining with the elderly but we have babies with bedtimes) was our first time to do this dinner tradition with both of our kids in tow. Dixie Jean being 10 months and Baby B being 3 months (hope I am correct on that). Anyway, we were just laughing at how things have changed, particularly this dinner.

It used to be we would meet for 7 and crack up for hours over Margaritas and way too many baskets of chips till we couldn't breathe. Tonight we fed babies in between bites, bounced them around when they got fussy, picked up things that fell on the floor, swapped babies so we could love on the other, chugged our water with lemon and talked about how much we love our children.

We managed to get through dinner just fine with both babies in tact and food in our bellies. I thought we would for sure be there an hour tops, but to my surprise we went a whole hour and 10 minutes ( I was impressed).

Yes.....our girl nights are much different now, but where we once skipped dessert we now fill up on kissable chubby cheeks:) Nothing tops that...not even queso!
